 Divination Lesson II: Ceroscopy
« Thread Started on Aug 2, 2009, 12:57pm »

Professor Dumbledore entered into the room from his back office, well his classroom office. Already set up were burning candles and basins filled with water. Next to them were brass cauldrons,

"Good afternoon everyone, today, we are going to be studying a very interesting form of Divination. It is called ceroscopy. Ceroscopy is a system of divination using wax that was very popular in Russia. Wax is melted into a brass vessel till it became a liquid of uniform consistence. The liquid wax is then poured very slowly into another vsssel filled with cold water. The pouring is done in a way that the wax congealed in tiny discs upon the surface of the water. The divinator then interpretes the figures of wax. So, today, your job is to do such. I will come around and make sure that you are doing it correctly. Once the process is complete, be sure to interpret the wax figures in the basin. Be detailed and descriptive, as it will help you as we continue."

Minnie entered the classroom excited for her first lesson. Brushing her hair back she pulled it up into a pony tail to keep it from her face for the lesson to be. Taking a seat she listened to the lesson. It seemed fairly easy, she hoped. Letting out a nervous breath she got her cauldron out and set it on top of her work area. Deciding it was best to work best standing up. Getting the basin of water she grabbed one of the burning candles and began to slowly pour it into the basin. She watched it carefully as it began to force together. She then poured it into the cauldron and let out a slow breath. Biting her lip she glanced down as the shapes began to form. Going into her bag she pulled out a slightly ratty copy of the Divination signs she managed to flip through the pages as she checked noticing one to be a moon and the other shape to be a hat of some sort.

Professor Dumbledore was doing a stroll around to make sure everything was okay, and noticed that Minnie had done something wrong... "Dear, you want to pour the candle wax and candles into the cauldron to melt...then add them to the basin of water..."
