Charms Lesson I: Charms 101 « Thread Started on Jul 28, 2009, 8:50pm »
Professor Lockhart had his hair spiked and was wearing red robes as he swished into the room from the front entry checking out the students, most of them were new, and he hoped he could handle what he had in store for them this term.
"Good afternoon class. My name is Professor Riley Lockhart, nephew of Gilderoy Lockhart. I know some of you already, and have seen most of you around. Don't try any funny business, because I'm an expert Legilmens, so please don't try anything..well try with your work..you know what I mean." He smiled. So we have a lot of work to do, but I can't do much if I don't know what the hell ya know. So for classwork, please tell me what you know about Charms, if you had any experience etc etc etc. . Anyone like to start?"
Extra Credit: What spells would you/hope to learn this year?

Eric walked briskly into class and took a seat towards the middle of the classroom. It was a crisp autumn day, wonderful for flying. Eric sighed and looked out the window, picturing himself zooming around on his broomstick and all the girls watching him in admiration. So much for that... he thought bitterly, returning to the real world. He had classes today.
Eric's attention quickly darted from himself to the professor, who was now addressing the class. Professor Lockhart wanted to know what spells they had learned last year. Truthfully, Eric had no idea...quite a bit of time had passed since he had last sit in this classroom. He thought about it for a minute, then remembered last year. It was a bit boring to be honest. Eric was sick of learning "baby stuff," he was ready to move on. Eric raised his hand. "We just learned the basics last year, Professor." He hoped he wouldn't be asked what, as he racked his brain for memory.

Professor Lockhart waited for a response and then replied to the Gryffindor's response.
"Mr. Conway, be more specific, and stop daydreaming in my class please. So, the 'basics' huh? What do you mean by that? Can you be more specific, but don't worry, you won't be learning any 'basics', at least not this year, by the time we hit second year, I usually progress much quickly as I expect my students to have already learned the 'basics'."

Justin looked up from the back of head of the boy in front of him as he tried to recall learning things the year before. Had he learned anything? Yes, probably. Had it been useful? Same answer as before. Could he remember it? Oh, yeah. He raised his hand casually in the air hoping Eric Conway, his fellow Gryffindor wouldn't mind too much.
"Professor, while I can't speak for everyone, I remember learning cheering charms, alohamora, wingardium leviosa, um...," he started, counting them all off on his fingers. "Rictusempra, lumos... And uh... something else. I just can't remember what it was. But, professor, are we going to be learning something a little more substantial this year? Like ... obliviate, yeah, or the patronus charm?"
He had a feeling that those two might be a tad advanced for them right now, but it couldn't hurt to hope.

"Very good. Well, that will be a good basis for our upcoming lessons then. And as for those charms, Patronuses are more in the Dark Arts department and as for the memory charm, perhaps a bit too advanced, but you will be learning some advanced magic though."
